A member of a vigilante group in Yobe has been killed by a fresh explosion
- The explosion occurred at Wulle viullage in Gujba local government area of Yobe state
- Seven others were also injured from the explosion that killed the vigilante member
A member of a vigilante group in Yobe has been killed by a fresh explosion, Daily Trust reports.
NAIJ.com gathered that an explosive device believed to have been planted by Boko Haram elements near a bridge at Wulle village in Gujba local government area of the state exploded killing the vigilante member.
Confirming the incident, the commander in charge of the affected group Mallam Muhammad Awana said incident that left the vigilante dead is sad.
He however, said the group was defiant in its fight against terrorism and will not stop until the insurgents are completely wiped off from the state.
Seven others were also injured from the explosion that killed the vigilante member
"Yes, the incident happened, and we are sad about it but it will not deter us from fighting the insurgents. We will continue to look out for these criminals till we wipe them off completely to restore normalcy," Awana said .
Daily surfers. can also report that the vigilante group had responded to a distress call from villagers in the area that some terrorists had snatched a vehicle from a resident.
Residents said it was while the group had rushed off to cordon the area that the explosion happened.
One of the operatives who escaped the mishap Malam Baitu said the device which was planted by the insurgents went off and killed the driver of the group.
Baitu said the driver was conveying them for the operation when he died.
he also added that seven other people were injured from the incident and are currently receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital in the state.
