How Niger Delta militants ambushed gallant Nigerian soldier and murdered him (PHOTO)

- Men of the Nigerian army are doing all they could to curtail insurgency and militancy in all regions of the country

- A few days ago, there was a report that Niger Delta militants ambushed troops stationed in that region and killed some men of the Nigerian army

- One Alhaji Anas posted a short write up on the Facebook page of Sirrin Siyasar Nigeria at about 6 o'clock in the evening of Thursday, April 13, describing one of the fallen soldiers as a gallant Nigerian soldier

Information has it that some soldiers were waylaid and killed by alleged Niger Delta gun-wielding men.

Alhaji Anas who has a close relationship with one of the murdered military men, poured out his heart, when he showered praises on one of the fallen heroes by the name Aminu Abubakar.

Anas writes: ''This murdered gallant Nigerian soldier was my friend. We attended the same primary and secondary schools together. It was during our school days we became inseparable. He later became our hero based on his character.

''Our soldiers were and are being killed almost everyday just for the sake of the citizens.''

The friend to the murdered soldier added saying: ''Aminu Abubakar was a man that everyone who had relationship or dealings with, never regretted they did. He was one in a million person. Hardly went a week that Aminu will not give me a phone call in order to check on my well-being.
'Even yesterday (Wednesday, April 12), he called me. However, as I was expecting his call today (Thursday, April 13), was when I got the sad news that Niger Delta militants ambushed him and murdered him. They killed my Aminu!''

Anas concluded by stating that he prayed Almighty Allah forgive him his sins and illuminate among those that will enter paradise.

Recently, the activities of the militants like bombing of oil facilities and pipeline installations have reduced.

On the other hand, it seems some of the displaced militants have migrated to the southwestern part of the country. This is because about a month ago, some Lagos residents say they now live in fear following the return of militants who have been terrorising them in the area.

It is now left for security agents to nip the militancy threat in the bud if it currently exists in Lagos.
